Light art sculpture updates shopping centre entrance

Photos: Nikhilesh Haval

The light art sculpture which was designed to update the existing canopy feature that forms the entrance to Treaty Centre in Hounslow/UK comprises a series of 350 interwoven leaves, lit in vibrant shades of pink and blue by DMX-controlled LED luminaires. During the daytime the space is flooded with natural light, encouraging light play amongst the lights of the new structure.

The goal of multidisciplinary design studio Acrylicize was to create a prominent art feature that would welcome shoppers into the centre. When designing and creating the sculpture, the art studio took inspiration from local parks and green land, which is an integral part of the centre’s branding. “Shopping goes green” can be taken almost literally given the associations to nature the sculpture demonstrates.
