In order to achieve different solutions designers are required to think and design differently. The Editorial Committee of the next Ibero-American Lighting Design conference (EILD 2016) have therefore focused on analysing the creative process. Attendees will be invited to participate in activities that will inspire reflection and experimentation, taking a dynamic and interactive approach to considering the different aspects involved in the creative process of developing lighting projects.
Lectures will be given by renowned international professionals from different disciplines related to lighting, who will provide their valuable point of view on the interdisciplinary processes that determine the overall design progress.
All present at EILD 2016 are welcome to take part in practical sessions that explore different aspects of light, such as perception, designing with shadows, poetics and applied materials, designing light using technologies and colour, and investigating how to communicate light.
The event will also explore the artistic possibilities of light in the city through two urban interventions that will be realised during the event in collaboration with all EILD attendees. A competition was held in February 2016 inviting designers to submit proposals for the urban realm. The event has just released a new call for projects for Panorama, which will involve the presentation, exhibition and publication of 30 selected interior and exterior architectural lighting design projects. The aim is to show them during EILD 2016, a panorama (or overview) of the activity of the lighting designers in Ibero-America, presenting projects realised between 2014 and 2016. Deadline: 30. June. www.en.eild.org/panorama
EILD 2016 will take place in the city of Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, between 21. and 24. September, 2016.
The event is designed to generate a new way of thinking that may lead to change in the field of lighting design in the coming years, resulting in better and more qualified projects.
